Sarki Auwalu
Sarki Auwalu is the Director/CEO of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) – the petroleum regulatory agency in Nigeria set up to ensure the sustainable development of Nigeria’s Oil and Gas resources across the value chain for all stakeholders.
Under his leadership, DPR unveiled a set of new guidelines of operations for the upstream sector of the Nigerian oil and gas industry. Some of the regulations under his watch is geared towards limiting the cost of oil production in the country by 5%, as demanded by the federal government and to increase operators’ focus on exploration. Some other new guidelines are Work Programme and Budget Automation, Rig and Vessel Work Automation, Drilling/Completion/Re-entry Work Process Automation and the Nigerian Oil and Gas Contract Advertising Portal (NOGCAP).
Anwalu started his career at the Chevron Academy where he was awarded a certificate in Oil and Gas Handling, Facilities Maintenance and Troubleshooting in 1999.
He obtained a bachelor's In Chemical Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Masters in postgraduate diploma in management (1993) Bayero University Kano. He also has Diplomas in Drilling Risk Assessment (2002), Petroleum Policy and Management (2004) and Petroleum Policy and Operations (2007) all from PETRAD Norway. He also obtained a Diploma in Offshore Technology from PetrolSkill USA.
A chemical engineer by training, he is on the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria COREN). Also, a member of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), member, Society of Petroleum Engineers and associate member, Institute of Chemical Engineers, United Kingdom.
