Druck Celebrates 50th Anniversary and Growing Demand
LEICESTER, U.K., – Sept. 21, 2022 – Druck, a Baker Hughes business and industry leader in pressure measurement technology and instrumentation, reports strong growth and a record level of exports as the company celebrates its 50th anniversary.
With year-on-year double-digit growth and industrial orders now surpassing pre-COVID levels, demand for Druck’s pressure measurement technology is significant. The company now exports a record 90% of its pressure sensors and pressure instrumentation, manufactured from its site in Groby, Leicester, to over 70 countries across the globe.
At an event to mark Druck’s 50th anniversary, the business’ vice president, Gordon Docherty, told its 650 Groby-based employees that as a result of sustained success, the company is considering expansion opportunities.
“Fifty years ago, two incredible pioneers, Mike Bertioli and John Salmon, opened a small workshop at our current location in Groby and formed Druck,” Docherty said. “Over those 50 years, we have enjoyed incredible success, and our growth is outpacing our current facility’s capacity. To ensure our legacy and future, we are considering options to further modernize operations, with our preference to find a suitable facility in the local area that enables Baker Hughes’ goal to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.”
Druck’s 50th anniversary event for its employees and their families, held Sept. 9, included live bands, barbecue, a circus workshop, crazy golf, basketball, charity stalls and a raffle that raised over £1,200 for its charity partners, Action Homeless. The event also drew a VIP appearance from Jonny MacGregor, a highly successful racing driver on the British Endurance Championship. MacGregor is also Druck’s Technology Leader and brought with him his state-of-the-art motorsport vehicle, which features a number of Druck’s pressure sensors on board.
