Our production logging tools help efficiently and accurately evaluate your well's performance. You can configure these tools for optimal measurement of a wide range of production conditions, including vertical, highly deviated, or horizontal wells. Use them for a variety of well completion types, including openhole (barefoot), cased-hole, perforated, gravel-packed, or slotted-liner configurations.
All our production logging tools operate in memory or surface readout mode, and can combine effortlessly with well integrity and other tools on our unique high-speed Ultrawire tool bus. This ability to run many sensors in one toolstring not only provides appropriate data, but also reduces lost production by saving valuable operating time and resources.
All successful logging jobs depend on obtaining good quality data, without costly failures and lost time. Our equipment is designed to consistently produce precise measurements and operate with high reliability. Our applied expertise ensures excellent sensor design and testing, combined with the selection of reliable components, appropriate materials, and rigorous manufacturing procedures.
Multiple Array Production Suite (MAPS)
Our MAPS logging technology offers an innovative range of tools with multiple sensors that provide a clearer and more accurate picture of the flow regime which is vital for superior reservoir management. MAPview creates 3D images of the flow regime to present a realistic analysis of a well’s production.
The Capacitance Array tool (CAT) uses the different dielectric constants of oil, gas, and water to identify fluids phases in high deviation and horizontal wells.
Our Resistance Array tool (RAT) has 12 micro-resistance sensors deployed on bowstrings to determine the water holdup profile across the wellbore.
The Spinner Array tool (SAT) features six miniature turbines deployed on bowspring arms, enabling discrete local fluid velocities to be measured at 60° intervals around the wellbore.
The Gas Array tool (GAT) differentiates gas from liquid (or oil or water) in a wide variety of operating conditions including numerous, small high-speed gas bubbles. The integration of the GAT into the MAPS suite offers a unique combination of reliability, accuracy, and multiphase flow capability for deviated wells.
Production Array Imager
The Production Array Imager (PAI), delivers accurate measurements of multiphase flow and fluids, including gas, oil, and water.
The service combines microspinners to measure flow, biphasic or triphasic optical sensors to identify gas and liquid, and resistance sensors to identify hydrocarbons and water. Ongoing evaluation of gas-oil-water ratios and establishing flow rates for each phase helps you make better decisions for your horizontal wells as they mature, and can help you develop more effective long-term production plans.
The PAI platform resolves historic production logging challenges such as damage to logging tools in difficult well completions and compromised data quality due to sensor measure points being spread across a long tool string with a reduction in tool string lengths by as much as half, compared to traditional tool strings.
Fluid identification
Our fluid identification technologies establish the hold-up of fluids using the density and electrical properties of oil, gas, and water.
The non-radioactive Sondex Fluid Density Inertial (FDI) tool uses the inertial response characteristics of a vibrating tuning fork to determine the density of the wellbore fluid mixture.
The Sondex Fluid Density Radioactive (FDR) tool uses low energy gamma rays to determine the downhole fluid density during a production log. It provides a reliable measurement that is unaffected by well deviation and flow rates.
The Sondex Gas Holdup (GHT) tool provides a reliable full-bore measurement of gas volume fraction, independent of flow regime or well deviation.
The enhanced Sondex Capacitance Water Holdup (CWH) or the Capacitance Temperature Flow (CTF) tools measure the dielectric constant of the surrounding borehole fluid to determine the water holdup with improved response characteristics.
Pressure Gauge
The Quartz Pressure Sensor (QPS) or the Quartz Pressure and Casing Collar Locator (QPC) tools provide a continuous log of borehole fluid pressure and records reservoir pressure draw-down and build-up data during flowing tests. With this gauge, you can accurately locate gas-liquid interfaces (two-phase, three-phase contacts) and estimate damage or improvement by the skin factor value.
Temperature Gauge
The Platinum Resistance Thermometer (PRT) or the Capacitance Temperature Flow (CTF) tools measure the borehole fluid temperature, which can be used for finding fluid entry, gas leaks, and injection zones. With this data, you can determine injection points and, under some conditions, develop an injection profile. Additionally, you can locate tubing and casing leaks, particularly when the leaking fluid is gas.
Flowmeters
Our extensive range of flowmeters measure fluid velocity through a diverse variety of well conditions.
The Continuous Flowmeter Jeweled (CFJM) is designed for logging in high fluid velocity wells, such as gas wells. The CFJM is run at the bottom of the production logging string in combination with a capacitance/temperature/flow flowmeter or CFJ electronics cartridge.
Using a large diameter impeller, the Caged Fullbore Flowmeter (3-arm CFBM) accurately measures downhole flow rates with a coverage over a large cross-section of the casing. The 3-arm CFBM locates packer and plug leaks and identifies lost-circulation zones in open holes.
The 6-arm Caged Fullbore Flowmeter (6-arm CFBM) also measures downhole flow rates but features a set of spinner blades and cage assembly that collapse down to pass through tubing restrictions without damage.
The compact In-Line Spinner (ILS) Flowmeter, when run in combination with other production logging tools, is used in areas where fullbore spinners can be closed due to restricted diameters. The ILS flowmeter allows for production profiling in tubing and casing within one logging run, and is less susceptible to the effects of jetting (high velocity fluid entry from perforations) than a fullbore spinner.
The Capacitance/Temperature/Flow Flowmeter (CTF) combines three sensors—capacitance water holdup, temperature, and flowmeter—with a single electronics section to identify water entry into hydrocarbon flow, hydrocarbon/water interfaces in shut-in wells, and hydrocarbon entry into water.
Noise Tool
Our Noise Tool (NTO) detects liquid or gas movement sounds inside or outside the cased well. You can use the NTO to locate and evaluate channels behind casing, gas-liquid interfaces, leaks in casing, and gas entries.
The NTO tool can be combined with other Sondex wireline tools, and logs data in both memory or surface readout tool settings.
Dual Caliper tool
Our Production Dual (X-Y) Caliper (PDC) tool measures the internal diameter of the well casing to provide an accurate measurement of the casing or tubing. These measurements assist in detecting casing deformation, major corrosion, and scale build-up. The tool operates in both memory or surface readout tool settings.
