Ultrasonic flow meters and emissions management solutions for superior flare gas flow measurement and control

For over four decades, Panametrics has used ultrasonic meters to provide a better way to measure gas flare, but the unique requirements of today’s flare gas measurement and control applications now require more complex solutions.

At Panametrics, we offer IoT Oil & Gas solutions for measuring, monitoring, and controlling flare gas flow, reducing emissions, lowering costs, and bringing greater reliability to your upstream, midstream, or downstream operations.

Our extensive knowledge of flare applications provides more than just flow information. With tools like the flare.IQ platform which utilizes an advanced process control algorithm, we are able to work with our customers to efficiently control flares, while also providing world-class ultrasonic flowmeters, services, and training you need to keep your operation running smoothly.

Ensuring performance even when conditions are uncertain

Every installation is unique, but most were not designed with metering in mind. Short, straight runs and the uncertain impact of instrumentation and piping arrangements can significantly affect performance. We can help you understand these effects and reduce uncertainty

Flare Management Solutions For Every Sector of Oil and Gas
Upstream Solutions

Upstream Challenges:

  • Understanding mass balance and adjusting for optimal performance
  • Accurate emissions reporting for regional compliance and carbon footprint reduction
  • Affordable digital validation, especially for remote (offshore) environments

Panametrics Solutions:

  • DigitalFlow GF868 - The DigitalFlow GF868 from Panametrics is a highly versatile, high-performance flowmeter capable of many configurations with a large display and ample space for complicated wiring. Several options exist for I/O, including the ability to handle two flare lines with one box. The DigitalFlow GF868 is ideally suited in Zone 2 applications but can be fitted with a Zone 1 enclosure when required. Setup is simple through its large display and intuitive interface. The DigitalFlow GF868 works with all Panametrics gas transducers and is backward compatible with all older model Panametrics meters, including the original 7100 and its digital replacement, the 7168.
  • DigitalFlow XGF868i - The DigitalFlow XGF868i from Panametrics is a compact and explosion-proof/flame-proof transmitter version of the Panametrics DigitalFlow GF868 flare gas mass flow meter. The DigitalFlow XGF868 is ideally suited for offshore installations with harsh environments and limited space but can be applied downstream in refineries and petrochemical plants where Zone 1 is required.
  • flare.IQ - The flare.IQ Advanced Flare Control and Digital Verification by Panametrics, a Baker Hughes business, has a proven track record in optimizing flare operations. Our flare.IQ flare control solution reduces methane emissions, ensures high-efficiency flare combustion, and reduces steam usage in flare systems

Supporting Services:

  • Flow Profile Analysis Service (CFD) - By leveraging our expertise in flowmeters and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Panametrics implement USM flow profile accuracy correction factors for a variety of piping run conditions that compare favorably to accuracies normally obtained in straight-runs of 20D or more. All you have to do is provide us with an isometric drawing of your existing or planned installation, along with the process parameters, and we will model your flow and define a set of correction factors that will cover a wide range of flow and process conditions.
  • FlareCare SSA - Through one of our FlareCare SSA packages, you can reduce risk by avoiding lead times associated with standard transactional services, reduce costs and liabilities by reducing the need for scaffolding installation and transducer extraction, and enjoy proactive scheduling with an established timeline for your annual verifications as well as quarterly and preventative maintenance requirements. Additionally, you can eliminate the need for annual inspections with on-demand digital verifications when your FlareCare SSA is powered by flare.IQ.

Midstream Solutions

Midstream Challenges:

  • Difficulty in accurately measuring large, low flow, low pressure gases such as LNG
  • Difficulty with very cold flares and their associated boil-off gases
  • Mass balancing and accurately measuring how much you are losing production-wise

Panametrics Solutions:

  • DigitalFlow GF868 - The DigitalFlow GF868 from Panametrics is a highly versatile, high-performance flowmeter capable of many configurations with a large display and ample space for complicated wiring. Downstream Solutions

Downstream Challenges:

  • The hidden costs of oversteaming and how to accurately gauge just how much steam you really need
  • Variable gas compositions and the hardware to account for them
  • Variable flare control - not all technologies can measure and adjust for these changes
  • Hazardous gases, sometimes acidic - not all technologies can handle these environments
  • Regulatory compliance in some of the most sensitive areas from an environmental POV requires the highest degree of accuracy and uptime
