ICD supporting accessories are frequently combined with inflow control systems in order to enhance deployment or improve long-term operational efficiency.
Sand screens combined with ICDs are used in sandstone reservoirs to protect the ICD from erosion and plugging, while enhancing sand control. The use of ICDs with sand screens also prevents hot spots and limits the rate of flow, reducing drag force that carries solids to the well.
