Overview
Quickly verify that coring operations recovered your target formation with Baker Hughes's GammaTrak™ wellsite gamma logging unit. The portable gamma tool generates a real-time continuous gamma-versus-depth log along the entire length of the core sample, right at the rig site.
Use the unit to scan the core-filled inner barrels as they are pulled from the bottomhole assembly or after the barrels have been laid on the rig floor. For your remote or hazardous locations, an enhanced version of the GammaTrak unit is available, which communicates wirelessly and in real time with a remote laptop.
Then, compare the lithology evaluation of the resulting gamma logs to reservoir and clay zones identified by offset wireline or measurement-while-drilling (MWD) logs. This comparison lets you efficiently verify core recovery and confirm target intervals at the wellsite. With this insight, you can decide whether additional core runs are required or save yourself the time and cost of another unnecessary coring trip.
