Applications
- Openhole gravel packing
- Horizontal or highly deviated wellbores
- Wellbores with annular barriers such as hole collapse, proppant bridging across thief zones, or clay swelling
Overview
Since sandstone formations account for the majority of oil and gas fields, and most of these formations are composed of weakly cemented loose sand grains, the primary challenge with these unconsolidated sandstone formations is that loose sand grains start to produce along with hydrocarbons when the wells are online. Once they enter the wellbore they erode the downhole completion equipment and tubing and fill up the pipelines and flow separators. All of these might result in completion failures and will require costly work over operations.
Our EXCELLPAK™ multipath gravel-pack screen is designed to deliver a secondary slurry flow path for long, horizontal openhole gravel pack and cased-hole frac-pack applications. When premature bridging or high fluid loss zones are a possibility, this product provides a secondary method for continuously packing the annulus below the bridging point to the toe of the well.
The EXCELLPAK screen provides added reliability in extended openhole laterals, and in wellbores where obstructions could interfere with effective gravel packing operations.
